Lebrija is located just outside of the Costa de la Luz, in the Southwest province of Seville. It is a very Spanish Town, still retaining many of its traditions and original charm. Lebrija is one of the sunniest locations in Southern Europe and has hot summers and mild winters.
This pretty walled town enjoys panoramic views over the surrounding, sherry growing vineyards. The centre point of the town is the Santa Maria de Oliva church which was built as a 12th century mosque and converted to a church by Alfonso X. Many original Moorish features exist today.
Lebrija is fast becoming a popular relocation and retirement location. Developments are within walking distance of the town with its busy old quarter and its many bars, restaurants and shopping facilities. The beach at Sanlúcar de Barrameda is just 25 minutes away and the lively city of Seville is just 40 minutes away.
The developments are in an elevated position, giving views to the historic old town and to the Guadalaquivir river on the edge of the Donana National Park, a protected bird and wildlife sanctuary. The fertile river valley produces much of Europe’s strawberries and oranges as well as the famous Manzanilla sherry wine. Lebrija’s annual fiesta is in May and there are six nearby lakes providing shelter for many migrating bird species travelling between Europe and Africa.
